Obituary

GLOUCESTER: Joan Marie (Gosnell) Johnson, 80, of Old Nugent Farm Road, died early Sunday morning, July 4, 2010. She was the beloved wife of Frederick T. Johnson, with whom she shared 58 years of marriage. Fred and Joan were longtime residents of Woburn and Gloucester. For the past 25 years, they had spent their winters in Florida and summers in Gloucester.
Born in Dorchester on March 11, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Anastasia (Grimes) Gosnell. She was a graduate of the Woburn High School class of 1948 and married her high school sweetheart in 1951.
Joan was a kind-hearted, fun-loving person, who was dearly loved by her family and many friends. She will be greatly missed.
In addition to her beloved husband, she is survived by three children, Cheryl, wife of Matthew Anderson of Beverly, Stephanie, wife of John B. Love of La Canada Flintridge, CA and Frederick T. Johnson, Jr. of Lexington. She also leaves her four grandchildren, Heather Young of Beverly, Heidi Young of Tampa, FL, Jenny Love and Johnny Love both of La Canada Flintridge, CA; her dear sister, Patricia Catania of Woburn and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her brother, Thomas Gosnell, who died in childhood.
Visitation will be held on Thursday evening in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester from 6 – 8 p.m. An informal service will be held at 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
