Alvis Johnson, 79, passed away Sunday, July 4, 2010 at Sts. Mary and Elizabeth Hospital. Born in Huntsville, Alabama, he was the son of the late James and Mary Johnson. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and had retired after 34 years of service from Local Teamsters #89 as a truck driver. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Opal May Bland. He is survived by his children, Betty Jean Johnson and Glenn Alvis Johnson (Starr); sisters, Lucille Phillips and Mary Dell Long; and five grandchildren. Funeral services will be 10 am Wed. at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway with burial in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be 2-8 Tuesday.
