Concord------Esther M. Van Vliet, 88, of Concord died at the Concord Hospital on Thursday, July 1, 2010.
Esther was born June 29, 1922 in Holderness, N.H., the daughter of Mark K. and Christina (Braid) Marden. She was a graduate of Plymouth High School and held Bachelor of Science and Master Degrees from the University of New Hampshire.
Esther served twelve years as dietitian at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford, Mass., St. Joseph’s Hospital, Nashua, Memorial Hospital in Nashua and Plymouth Teachers’ College, Plymouth. She taught Junior & Senior High School students for twenty-seven years in Hudson, N.H., Arlington, Mass, Plymouth, N.H. and Concord, N.H. She retired as a teacher from Rundlett Junior High School in 1982.
Esther held memberships in the N.H. Education Association and the Merrimack Education Association and was a member of Tops, Inc., the Holderness Community Church and a life member of the Ashland Rebekah Lodge.
Esther is survived by a loving family of many nieces and nephews and their extended families. In addition to her parents, Esther was predeceased by four brothers and four sisters.
There will be no calling hours.
A Memorial service will be held Thursday July 8, 2010 at the Holderness Community Church at 11:00 AM.
