Obituary

Robert J. Armstrong, 72, died unexpectedly on Friday, July 2, 2010 in his home. He was the husband of the late Betty A. (Levesque) Armstrong, with whom he shared nearly forty years of marriage.
Born in Danvers on Apr. 8, 1938, he was the son of the late Aime and Nora (Callahan) Armstrong. He was raised and educated in Danvers and had resided in Salem for many years before returning to Danvers in 1994.
Mr. Armstrong was employed as the general manager of the King Vault Company until the time of his retirement in 1999.
A dedicated and loving family man, he was an avid birdwatcher.
He is survived by his children, Kathy Hussey and her husband Mark of Haverhill and Mark Armstrong and his wife Ruth of Ipswich, five sisters, Marie Rosse of Peabody, Helen Armstrong of Danvers, Nancy Donohue of Calif., Kathy Bannon of Danvers, and Teri Gentleman of Ipswich, a brother, Michael Armstrong of Danvers, 5 grandchildren, Jacqueline and Bryan Hussey and Caitlin, Samantha, and Madison Armstrong, and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brothers and sisters, William and John Armstrong, Julie Martyn, and Ann Getchell.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at 9AM in Saint Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Danvers. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 5-8pm in C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square.
