
Beverly: Linda J. (Boucher) Purdy, age 62 of Beverly, died Thursday, July 1, 2010 surrounded by her family and friends at Beverly Hospital after a courageous battle with COPD. She was the devoted wife of her best friend, Donald B. Purdy, with whom she shared 41 years of marriage.
Born and raised in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Jean Paul and Margaret D. (Gagnon) Boucher. Linda was formerly employed by the United Shoe Machinery Corp. of Beverly and L.H. Rogers of Salem, but her most beloved job was being a loving wife and a stay at home mom to her two children David and Doria.
A resident of Beverly for 36 years, Linda always had an idea and a vision. One of her many talents was sewing and creating other beautiful crafts. She hosted an annual craft fair at her home for 13 years. She also enjoyed dancing, shopping and crossword puzzles. Linda also had a life long passion for boating and fishing at the Palmer Cove Yacht Club.
She will be forever loved and sorely missed by her husband Donald, son David B. Purdy and his long time girlfriend Kelly MacCormack of Methuen, daughter Doria J. Purdy of Beverly and fiancé Steve Hamel and her feline companion Pishou. She is also survived by her brother, Roger P. Boucher and his wife Mary Beth and her sister, Nan Valaskatgis and her husband Paul all of Salem, a brother-in-law, Frank Purdy and his wife Marion , a sister-in-law Gloria Purdy all of Beverly, as well as many loving nieces and nephews. Linda loved all those she knew and was loved by all who knew her.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Rt. 114 / 1-A] Salem on Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at 8 a.m. to be followed by her funeral mass in Ste. Anne Church, Jefferson Ave., Salem at 9 a.m. Visiting hours: Tuesday 4 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
