Obituary

Thomas H. Kachadoorian, 89, of Worcester died peacefully Wednesday, June 30, in Knollwood Nursing Center.

His beloved wife of 65 years, Mildred H. (Withers) Kachadoorian died in 2005. He leaves three sons and their wives, Thomas (Butch) & Donna Kachadoorian, Robert & Cynthia Kachadoorian, and John & Marsha Kachadoorian.; ten grandchildren, Mark, Thomas, Robert, Michael, Todd, Adam, Jenifer, Christine, Kelly and Kendra; several great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Mary Kachadoorian of Leicester and several nieces and nephews.

He was born in Worcester on September 23, 1920, son of Aahron and Esther (Malazian) Der Kachadoorian. He was predeceased by his daughter Katherine, brother, Sarkis “Jack”, and two sisters, Beverly Kashmanian and Shirley Surabian.

Thomas graduated from South High School and married Mildred in 1940. Thomas, along with his brother Jack, co-owned Tech Market for 45 years, retiring in 1987.

Many of Tom’s retired years were spent traveling with his wife. They visited numerous places but spent many winters in his favorite destination, Marco Island, Florida. Besides his wife, his family was the most important part of his life. Tom was an avid golfer and enjoyed trips to Lake Morey Inn and Country Club. He also loved to play cards with his friends.

Thomas was a member of the Holy Trinity Armenian Apostolic Church, its board of trustees, the parish council, and men’s club. He was a member of the Quinsigamond Lodge AF & AM and a 32nd Degree Mason with the Scottish Rite Bodies. He was also a founding member of the Jesse Burkett Little League and a former member of Armenian Youth Federation.

The funeral will be on Saturday, July 3 from CALLAHAN & FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle St with a service at 11:00 AM in Holy Trinity Apostolic Armenian Church, 635 Grove St. Interment will be in Hope Cemetery. Visiting hours are Friday, July 2 from 5:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home. A Dahngark service will take place during the visiting hours.

The Family would like to thank the staff at Knollwood Nursing Center for the care and compassion extended to Tom during his time there.
