Obituary

Philip F. Flanagan, 87, passed away on June 29th, 2010 at the Melrose Wakefield Hospital. He was born in Malden on November 5th, 1922 to his parents Joseph J. and Mary (Dolan) Flanagan. Philip has been a life-long resident of Malden. During World War II, he served his country honorably as a soldier in the United States Army. Philip worked as a Legislative Aid at the State House in Boston for over 30 years. He was previously employed as a guard at the Billerica House of Correction and he also worked at the Converse Rubber Company in Malden. He is survived by his children; Eileen Lee and her husband Kenneth of Wilmington, Maryann Finn and her husband William of Peabody, Kathleen Ball and her husband Michael of Malden, Patricia Wright and her husband Joseph of Malden, Maureen Cuoco and her husband Paul of Billerica, Joseph Flanagan and his wife Dorothy of Plum Island and Philip Flanagan Jr. of Saugus; by his grandchildren; Kathleen, Kenneth, Rena’, Christina, Nicholas, Paul, Michael, Charlene, Jonathan, Dylan, Devon and Mikalah; by his great grandson Thomas; and by his siblings; Edward Flanagan and his wife Mary of Yarmouth, Elizabeth Harrington of Newburyport, Katherine Dugie of Billerica and Ann Squires of Stoneham. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, Philip was predeceased by his brother Joseph Flanagan. Relatives & friends are invited to attend his funeral from the Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden on Saturday July 3rd at 8 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden at 9 AM. Services will conclude with interment in Forest Dale Cemetery in Malden. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Friday July 2nd from 4-8 PM.
