Hudson, MA
Charles H. E. “Bud” Wahl, 85, of Hudson, MA, formerly of Cumberland, RI, went to be with his maker on June 29, 2010. He was born in Providence, RI, son of the late Emil and Caroline Bessie Wahl. He was a long time resident of Cumberland, RI before moving to Hudson, MA. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dorothy (Barlow) Wahl of Hudson, MA; three children, his son, Charles R. E. Wahl and his wife Nancy of Hudson, MA, daughter Leis Phinney and her husband W. Sanford of Wales, MA and daughter Janis Tuxbury and her husband David of Sudbury, MA. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Sarah Hanlon of Holliston, Katrina Tuxbury of Marlboro, MA, Matthew, Megan, Joshua, Andrew, Jonathan, and Bree Tuxbury, all of Sudbury and great grandchild, Grace Hanlon of Holliston. He was predeceased by his granddaughter, Juliana Tuxbury of Sudbury, MA and two brothers, Carl L. E. Wahl of Cumberland, RI and Malcolm I. Penn of Center Barnstead, NH.
Charles was educated in the Pawtucket, RI school system and was an independent insurance salesman most of his life until his retirement. However, he was most proud of being a veteran of WWII, serving with the 103rd Infantry, 43rd Division in the South Pacific. He took part in the initial landing force during the invasion of Luzon in the Phillippine Islands. Among the medals he received were the Purple Heart and Combat Infantry Badge.
He was a member of the American Legion, 43rd Division Assoc., Combat Infantry Assoc. and was a former Big Brother. He enjoyed bird watching and classical country music.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 2nd at 10:00 a.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Massachusetts Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Winchendon, MA. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, July 1st from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
