Obituary

Mr. Daniel Joseph Fennelly, a lifelong resident of Medford and beloved husband of the late Isabelle Margaret (Bagdigian) Fennelly, died at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston on June 28, 2010, following a lengthy illness. He was 88 years old.
Born in Somerville, Massachusetts, on March 6, 1922, Daniel was the beloved son of the late Richard J. and Mary E. (Morse) Fennelly. He was a WWII Army veteran, entering the military at Boston, on September 30, 1942 and receiving his honorable discharge from Ft. Devens on February 9, 1946. While serving in the military, Mr. Fennelly worked as a Laundry Machine Operator. He saw battle in Central Europe and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon, American Theater Campaign Ribbon and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with Bronze Star.
In civilian life, Mr. Fennelly worked for Federal Paper Board in Medford, as a Tool & Die Maker, for more than 40 years. Daniel loved to walk and was an avid Boston Sports fan. In fact Mr. Fennelly would always walk to Fenway Park, from Medford, to enjoy watching the Boston Red Sox. He also enjoyed bowling in his younger years. Mr. Fennelly was a very giving and generous person, always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. Above all, Daniel was a devoted husband and father.
He will be sorely missed by his two loving daughters, Sharlene L. Fennelly of Medford and Claudia I. Fennelly of Medford, two nieces; Dawna DiOrio and Lois Reilly and one nephew; Edmund Gennetti.
His funeral service was celebrated in the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford, Thursday, July 1, 2010, at 10 AM. Visiting hours were held on Wednesday, June 30, 2010, from 5 to 8 PM. Interment was in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
