Gerard F. Flaherty, 49 of Norwood died June 26 in his home.
Born in Norwood, August 9, 1960, the son of the late Francis and Mary (Ratkavich) Flaherty, Mr. Flaherty had been a lifelong Norwood resident.
Mr. Flaherty was a 1978 graduate of Norwood High School.
Mr. Flaherty had been a member of the Massachusetts State Police for over 10 years before retiring due to his health.
Husband of the late Elizabeth (Greene) Flaherty, he is survived by his sister, Maureen Rukstalis of Yarmouth Port and his brothers, Dennis Flaherty of Yarmouth Port and Mark Flaherty of Medway is also survived by his nephew, Michael Rukstalis of Milton and his niece, Leslie Gould of Norwood.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 1 in St. Catherine’s Church at 10:00 a.m.
Burial will be in Highland Cemetery in Norwood.
