Obituary

RICHARD S. WHITING of Hingham, died on Saturday, June 26th, 2010 at his home at Linden Ponds. He was 86. Mr. Whiting was born in Hingham and was a lifelong resident of the town. He served with the U. S. Army Air Corps during World War II and was a retired Hingham Firefighter. He leaves his wife of 60 years, Pauline H. (Farnsworth) Whiting; his two sons, Richard S. Whiting, Jr. of North Grafton and Robert E. Whiting of Damariscotta, ME. and was the brother of the late Carol Ann Turner.

For nearly 50 years, Dick and Polly lived in the house they built on Prospect St. in Hingham before moving to Linden Ponds in 2006.

A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, July 1st at 1 PM at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond St., Hingham. Friends may visit at the Downing Chapel prior to the service from 12 Noon - 1 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Hingham Firefighters' Assoc., 339 Main St., Hingham, MA 02043

Interment in Liberty Plain Cemetery, Hingham.
