Miss Stella Mangano, 87 of Medford died Friday in the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers. Miss Mangano was born in Somerville, the daughter of the late Giuseppe and Grazia (Bellino) Mangano. She had been a lifelong resident of Medford and attended local schools. She had worked as an Inspector in the shoe manufacturing industry for many years. Stella had an extraordinary talent for crocheting. She could make the finest baby blankets. Well known for her ability to make fashionable pins, her creations were widely distributed. In her spare time she loved to bake, cook and was a prominent figure at family gatherings. In earlier years she enjoyed bowling and was a member of some work bowling teams. She will be lovingly remembered as a fierce Boston Bruins and New England Patriots fan and as the family caregiver. She is survived by one sister, Esther Alcott of Bellingham formerly of Foxboro and is the sister of the late Frank and Philip Mangano, Connie Lorusso, Margaret Mazzola and Alice Cavallo. She also leaves several loving nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday from 12 thru 1 at Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford. The visitation will conclude with a funeral service at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow in Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge. Contributions in Stella’s name may be sent to the charity of your choice
