James Solon "Jim" Oakley, age 89, of Water Valley, MS died at his home June 26, 2010. He was born to the late Robert S. and Myrtle Maddux Oakley in Water Valley and served his country during World War II in the United States Navy. Jim was a former realtor and tree farmer, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be Monday, June 28, 2010 at 2:00 PM in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley with Bro. Barry Dickerson officiating. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM prior to service time. Burial will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery in Water Valley, MS.
Jim is survived by a sister-in-law, Virginia Oakley of Memphis, TN and two nephews, Jared Oakley of Memphis, TN and Robert Oakley of Vienna, VA.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William Robert Oakley.
