Obituary

Madeline (Shelby) Awad of Walpole, formerly of Dedham, passed away peacefully at her home on June 24, 2010. She was 94 years old.

Madeline loved spending time with her family and her West Highland White Terrier, Monty. She was an excellent cook, specializing in Syrian food. She loved sharing recipes with her granddaughters and enjoyed attending various activities at the Norfolk Adult Day Center in Norwood. In years past, she was an avid traveler. She enjoyed visiting family in California and vacationing in Arizona with her beloved husband William.

Madeline was the dear and devoted wife of the late William Awad. Loving mother of Joyce Black of Walpole and the late William R. Awad Jr. Cherished grandmother “Sitto” of Jessica M. Black, Rachel A. Black and Devon E. Black. Dear aunt of Robert A. Piso of Westwood. Loving sister of the late Rosaline Piso, Betty Ansara, Louis Shelby and Fred Shelby. She is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews.

Madeline's Funeral Service was held June 29, 2010 at St. George Orthodox Church, 6 Atwood Ave. in Norwood. Visiting hours were held at the Kfoury Keefe Funeral Home, 8 Spring St. in West Roxbury.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Madeline's memory may be made to the American Foundation for AIDS Research 120 Wall St. 13th Floor New York, NY 10005-3902.

Interment Mt. Benedict Cemetery in West Roxbury.
