METAMORA…Kenneth Charles Worner, age 85, passed away at 7:10 AM on Thursday, June 24, 2010 at Proctor Hospital, Peoria, IL.
Ken was born on September 23, 1924 in Green Valley, IL to Ernest and Elva Weimer Worner and married Betty Belsly in Kansas City, Kansas in 1946.
Survivors include his wife and four children, Janet Worner of Morton, IL, Nancy (Larry) Garlisch of Forest City, Timothy (Karen) Worner and Sharon (Daniel) Seckler of Metamora: one sister, Juanita (Clinton) Beuscher of Midland, Michigan: one sister-in-law, Laura Worner of Morton; 11 Grandchildren, Victoria Armbrust, James Kight-Garlisch, Ann Herrman, Brandon Worner, Ben Worner, Austin Worner, Kristen Worner, Kyle Seckler, Kara Seckler, Melissa Seckler and Derek Schussele and four great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Glenn and one grandson Andrew Worner.
Ken was a farmer and dairy farmer until retirement. His passion was showing Holstein Dairy cattle at fairs. He was the first 4-H boy in America to receive an all American award. He was a Director and Dairy Supt. of the Heart of IL Fair, President of Woodford County Council for the mentally challenged and disabled persons and a member of the Woodford County Farm Bureau.
He attended Bethany Baptist Church in Edwards. He was a Sunday School Supt. He also enjoyed taking vacations with his wife of 63 years. Ken was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and a great example of faithfulness to his Lord and Savior.
Visitation will be from 5 - 7 PM on Sunday, June 27 at Mason White Funeral Home in Washington, IL. Services will be at Bethany Baptist at 11 AM on Monday, June 28 with Dr. Ritch Boerckel officiating. Additional visitation will be from 10-10:45 a.m. before the service at the church. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery in Washington at 2 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethany Baptist Church or Apostolic Christian Timber Ridge in Morton.
