Lucille Champagne Vaillancourt, 83, succumbed June 23rd, 2010 following a lengthy illness. She was surrounded by her loving Husband and Children.
Lucille was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts and was a resident of Lawrence and Methuen her entire life. She attended and graduated from Saint Anne's Grammar School, and Saint Anne's High School as salutatorian of the class of 1944. Lucille worked at the Charlestown, Massachusetts Naval Yard from 1944 to 1945 as a clerk typist. She later worked as a telephone operator and administrative clerk at New England Telephone Company for some 35 years. She volunteered at the Lawrence Historical Society formerly Immigrant archives.
Lucille was a devoted wife, mother, aunt, grandmother and friend, who embraced life. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, knitting, scrabble, she especially enjoyed the Ocean and her precious cats. Lucille had a very full and active life with her family.
Lucille and Gerard Vaillancourt were married on October 11, 1947.
She had 4 children: Susan Childs of Princeton, MA.
Robert Vaillancourt and his wife Debra Leahy of Bethel, VT
Maryann Ogden and her husband Jim of Meredith, NH
John Vaillancourt and his wife Donna of Taunton, MA
Her Grandchildren: Vanessa Lynn Childs, Ryan Childs, Jeanne Pearce, Gregory Vaillancourt and Ashleigh Motta. As well as several nieces and nephews.
Brothers: Louis Champagne of Lawrence, MA
and Roland Champagne of Laguna Woods, CA
She was predeceased by her brother Gene Champagne.
Her funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, June 26th, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish, Saint Theresa Church, 22 Plymouth Street, Methuen, MA.
Burial will be private at the request of the family.
