Dennis Oliver, 67, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Sunday, November 9, 2003, at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton, Georgia.
Funeral service will be 2 P.M. Wednesday, November 12, 2003, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Alvin Merritt and Rev. John K. Mobley officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 Tuesday evening.
Mr. Oliver was born July 28, 1936, in Scotland, Georgia, to Eva Mae Bass Oliver and the late Preston Oliver. He was a 1954 graduate of Jeff Davis High School and served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Oliver was a retired Maintenance Technician with Shaw Industries in Tifton, formerly West Point Pepperell. He was also a former employee of the Sunbeam Corporation in McRae, Georgia. Mr. Oliver was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church.
Mr. Oliver is survived by his wife: Sarah S. Oliver, Fitzgerald; 1 daughter and son-in-law: Tammy and Rev. Alvin Merritt, Chester, GA; 2 sons and daughters-in-law: Roddy and Pattie Oliver, San Diego, CA and Will and Cherilyn Oliver, Lakeland, GA; 5 grandchildren: Brandon Merritt, Brent Merritt, Julia Oliver, Alli Oliver and Emily Oliver; mother: Eva Mae Oliver, Hazelhurst, GA; 3 brothers: Thomas Oliver, Hazelhurst, GA; Larry Oliver, Hazelhurst, GA; John Oliver, Claxton, GA.
