Gene Futch, 73, of Fitzgerald died Friday, June 18, 2010 at Dorminy Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Monday, June 21 at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Rex Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Big Creek Cemetery, Irwin County. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Sunday evening at the funeral home.
Mr. Futch was born June 2, 1937 in Irwin County, Georgia, the only child of the late Roy Newton & Lola Inez McSwain Futch. Mr. Futch was a former Plumber installing sprinkler systems with Valdosta Sprinkler Company. He also assisted in the plumbing at the AgriCenter in Perry. Mr. Futch was a former truck driver and for the past 3 years hauled cargo trailers with his wife. He was a member of Big Creek Baptist Church and attended Christian Fellowship. Mr. Futch served in the U.S. Air Force.
Mr. Futch is survived by his wife of 33 years: Vickie L. Futch, Fitzgerald; Daughter: Audrey (Neal) Sims, Roberta, GA; Son: Roy (Tina) Futch, Fitzgerald; Son: Lewis Futch, Fitzgerald; Step-daughter: Susan Cromer (Charles Chaney), Fitzgerald; 10 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren.
