Inez Menezes O’Brien, 73, of Leominster, formerly of Hudson, died Monday, June 14th at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She leaves her husband of 52 years, Ronald Francis O’Brien of Leominster.
Inez was born and raised in Santa Maria, the Azores, Portugal, daughter of the late Jose S. and Maria M. (Chaves) Viegas. She moved to Hudson from the Azores at age 17 with her family and shortly after married her husband Ronald at St. Luke’s Church in Hudson. She has resided in Leominster the past 40 plus years and spent many years as a health care provider for the Ramson Healthcare Company. She also took great pride in the raising of her children and the care and love she shared with her grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her two children, Thomas R. O’Brien of Winchendon and Sharon D. Smith and her husband Raymond of Leominster. She is also survived by her sister, Aida O’Brien of Leominster; her two grandchildren, Zachary O’Brien and Joshua Smith and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was the sister of the late Antonio Viegas and Maria Freitas.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 19th at 11:00 a.m. at the: Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749. Burial will follow in Forestvale Cemetery, Hudson. Calling hours will be held on Friday, June 18th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
