Obituary

Phyllis A. (Hammond) Vaughan, of East Bridgewater, formerly of Quincy, a retired secretary and artist, died on Monday, June 14, 2009 at the Wingate at Silver Lake Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Residential in Kingston. She was 66.

Phyllis was born in Boston attending Boston schools and graduating from Jeremiah E. Burke High School. She lived in Quincy for many years before moving to East Bridgewater in 2000.

While she worked as a secretary, Phyllis was an artist at heart who was awarded a scholarship to the Massachusetts College of Art. She loved drawing and painting and displayed much of her work in pencil and watercolors.

Phyllis was the loving and devoted wife of 46 years to David F. Vaughan, the loving mother of Diane Nash and her husband Steven of Bridgewater and Rene Vaughan of Pembroke, the beloved “Nanny” of Taylor Nash, the sister of Deborah Campbell and her husband Richard of Plymouth, the aunt of Valerie Burnett and Justin Campbell and the step-daughter of Mario Giannone of Rockland.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours Thursday from 4:00 - 8:00 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home 785 Hancock St. Quincy. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15AM on Friday prior to the Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree
