WORCESTER: Marie I. (Bedard) Foty, 80, of 485 Grove St., formerly of Calumet Ave., died with her family at her side on Saturday, June 12, 2010 at St. Vincent Hospital, after a brief illness. Her husband of 36 years, John C. Foty, died June 19, 1992.
She leaves two daughters, Linda Berthiaume and her husband Roy of Worcester, Joanne C. Heimerdinger and her husband Gary of Spencer; two sisters, Trudy Bailey of Spring Hill, FL, Beatrice Pruneau and her husband Al of Worcester; 3 grandchildren, Gary J. Heimerdinger, Jason C. Heimerdinger, Lauren M. Berthiaume; and many nieces and nephews. Her sister, Dorothy Morse of Englewood, FL, predeceased her. She was born and raised in Worcester, daughter of the late Henry and Lillian (Werme) Bedard, and attended Greendale Elementary School and Worcester Girls Trade High School.
Marie was a supervisor at Fortin’s Market where she worked for 12 years until retiring in 1984. She was a former member of Our Lady of the Rosary Church where she volunteered as a bingo worker, a past-president of the Greendale YMCA Mothers Club, and had also served as president of the Community Council at Colony Retirement Home.
CALLING HOURS are 5 to 8 P.M. on TUESDAY, JUNE 15 at KELLY FUNERAL HOME, 154 Lincoln St. A FUNERAL MASS will be held at 10 A.M. on WEDNESDAY, JUNE 16 at OUR LADY OF THE ROSARY CHURCH, 25 Fales Street, followed by burial in Notre Dame Cemetery.
