Loving father of Maureen O. Wilson and her husband James of Highland, MD. Step-Grandfather of Karen FitzGerald and Lisa Meleo. Brother of the late John F. O’Brien. Uncle of Marilynn Raben of Framingham. Seana Cahoon of Scituate. Alan O’Brien of Medford.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, in 1914, he attended St. Gregory’s Catholic School until moving to Boston where he attended St. Aidan’s School in Brookline, St. Joseph’s Academy in Wellesley, and Boston Latin School. He went on to pursue a chemistry course at MIT and Tufts and is counted among the MIT Class of 1937. He worked as a statistician for Hunnewell & Co., served as a field engineer and inspector for the U.S. Navy during WWII and development contracting officer, post war, before joining Jackson & Moreland, Div. of United Engineers and Constructors, Boston as secretary and assistant treasurer. In 1972 he became corporate secretary and assistant treasurer of Parsons-Jurden Corp., NY, before returning to the US Government in 1975 as a contracting specialist, DCASR, Boston, MA. He retired in 1994 after 34 years of Government service.
