Robert C. O’Brien, 88, of Manchester died June 11, 2010 at his residence after a brief illness.
Born in Troy, NY on February 1, 1922, he was the son of Timothy F. O’Brien Sr. and Katherine M. McCarthy. He lived in Englewood, FL, Amherst, Somers, CT, Clifton Park, NY, Rutland, VT and Troy, NY before moving to Manchester.
During World War II he served in the US Navy.
Mr. O’Brien worked as a sales executive with General Motors Corporation for 40 years.
He was a member of the Elks and Veterans of Foreign Wars. In Florida he was a member of the Myakka Golf Club in Englewood.
He was predeceased by three sons, David O’Brien, Robert C. O’Brien Jr. and Mark J. O’Brien.
The family includes his wife of 61 years, Anne (Quillinan) O’Brien of Manchester; two children, Michael W. O’Brien of Merrimack and Mary Ellen O’Brien Kramer of Manchester; 12 grandchildren and three great grandchildren; two brothers, John J. O’Brien of Albany, NY and Thomas I. O’Brien of New Canaan, CT; and nieces and nephews.
IN HIS LIFE: He was also predeceased by a sister, Alice O’Brien; and two brothers, Timothy O’Brien and William T. O’Brien.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at St. Catherine Church, corner of Webster and Hemlock streets, Manchester. Burial was at St. Mary Cemetery, Troy, NY at the convenience of the family.
