Obituary

Harold “H.L.” L. Trowbridge, age 87, of Fall River has gone to the Lord Monday June 7, 2010. He was husband of the late Rosemarie “Rose” (McCarthy) Trowbridge and son of the late Ralph and Clara (Leute) Trowbridge.

Born in Dubuque, Iowa, Harold lived in Somerset for many years prior to moving to Fall River. Harold enlisted in the U.S. Navy at the age of 18 shortly after Pearl Harbor in 1941 and served until 1963. After retiring from the Navy, Harold worked for the Charlestown Naval Shipyard and for O’Day Boat. He also worked part time with Mrs. Brigham at the Fall River Historical Society where he put his polishing skills learned in the navy to good use.

He is survived by a son: Peter and his wife Jean of Somerset; daughter Susan Raposo and her husband John of Fall River; grandchildren: Ian of Somerset, Lauren Thompson of Boxboro and Erik of Somerset; great granddaughter: Lylah of Somerset; brothers: Kenneth and Roger of Dubuque, Iowa. He was preceded in death by brothers: Joseph, Ralph “Bill”, Robert, Jerald and Howard and sisters Shirley Trowbridge and Audrey Huseman. Harold loved helping people.

His funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St., Friday at 9:00 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Name Church at 10:00 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery, Fall River. Calling hours Thursdays 4-7 P.M.
