TEWKSBURY - Helen G. (McGurn) Ellsworth, age 86, died Tuesday morning, June 8, at Wingate of Lowell, following a long period of declining health. She was the beloved wife for 43 years of John M. Ellsworth, who died in 1986.
She was born in Winchester, August 7, 1923, a daughter of the late Patrick and Nora (Greeley) McGurn. She was raised in Winchester, and lived in Medford before moving to Tewksbury in 1966. She worked at the former King's Department Store and later as a greeter at the Service Merchandise catalog store, both at Stadium Plaza in Tewksbury. She was a communicant of St. William's Church, and in her later years a frequent visitor at the Tewksbury Senior Center. She enjoyed handcrafts, especially knitting, was an avid reader and Boston Red Sox fan. She also enjoyed Bingo nights out.
She is survived by four children, John M. "Jack" Ellsworth Jr. and his wife Margaret of Tewksbury, Jo-Ann Crockett and her husband Philip of Wakefield, Barry J. Ellsworth, and his wife Lynn of Danville, NH, and Julie Ann Cooke and her husband Mark of Tyngsboro; fifteen grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also mother of the late Patricia Carraher, and sister of the late John McGurn, Evelyn Kvedar, and Mary Reich.
Her Funeral Mass was held Friday, June 11, in St. William's Church, Tewksbury. Burial followed at Tewksbury Cemetery. Memorials to the Jimmy Fund, 10 Brookline Place West, 6th Floor, Brookline, MA 02445, will be appreciated.
