Mary (Piti) Iafrate, 76, of Arthur Street, Greenville, died Saturday, June 5, 2010 at RI Hospital, Providence. She was the loving wife of the late Renato “Ray” Iafrate.
Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Carmelo and Vittoria (Ferlazzo) Piti. She had lived in Greenville for 50 years. She had worked with the Smithfield School Department as an Administrative Aide and was responsible for arranging substitute teachers for the Smithfield Schools.
Mary had also volunteered at St. Philip Church in many capacities and regularly attended social meetings with the 306th Bomber Group, 8th Air Force.
She is survived by her children, Robert Iafrate and Diane Iafrate both of Greenville, her grandchildren, Robert “Bobby” Iafrate, Rachel Shemenski and Sara Iafrate, great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Anthony and Joe and her siblings; Joseph and Nicholas Piti both of Greenville, Josephine Chiodine of Johnston, Carmela Factor of North Kington and Anna Sundrom of Coventry. She was the sister of the late Henry Piti.
Mass of Christian Burial Thursday at 9:30am in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville. Burial in St. Ann's Cemetery, Cranston. Visitation Wednesday 4-7 PM in the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville, RI.
