Obituary

BEVERLY: Richard C. “Dick” Tucker, 73, died unexpectedly Friday, June 4, 2010 at his home in Boynton Beach, Florida.
Born in Lynn on October 28, 1936, he was the son of the late Richard C. and Lauris (Witham) Tucker. He was a graduate of Beverly High School class of 1954. Dick had resided in Ipswich and Beverly for many years before moving to Boynton Beach, Florida twelve years ago. A U.S. Army veteran, he was stationed in Germany before being honorably discharged.
He had completed the General Electric Apprentice Program and was employed for the General Electric Company in Lynn for thirty-five years before his retirement.
An avid sportsman, Dick enjoyed golfing, hunting, skiing, fishing and sailing. He was a member of the Cyprus Hill Golf Club in Boynton Beach, the Beverly Lodge of Elks #1309 and a former member of the Wenham Country Club. He was also a member of the Amity-Mosaic Lodge, A.F. & A.M. of Danvers, where he was set to receive his fifty year pin. He was also active in the Ipswich over 30 Softball League for many years and was an avid Boston Bruin and Boston Red Sox fan.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Brenda L. and Robert A. Aponas, a son, Richard C. Tucker and his companion, Denise L. Mariano and her daughter, Shelby and two grandchildren, Allie and Brett Aponas all of Ipswich.
Visitation will be held on Friday in the Grondin Funeral Home, 376 Cabot Street, Beverly from 5 – 8 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Funeral services will be privately held in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn. Supporting educational initiatives was important to our father. Our family is grateful for the loving support of our friends during this difficult time. We would respectfully request that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in his memory to the Special Needs Department, Winthrop Elementary School, c/o Richard C. Korb, Superintendent of Schools, 1 Lord Square, Ipswich, MA 01938.
