Funeral Service in the J. Frank Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street, (Rte 123) Brockton Saturday at 10 am. Sr. M. Regina Fahy, RSM will officiate. Burial in Melrose Cemetery. Visiting Hours Friday 4-8 pm. Contributions in Thomas’s memory may be made to a Charity of One’s Choice

Mr. Eugene A. Thomas died peacefully at the LaRosa Health Care Center in Tucson, Arizona after a period of failing health. Born in Abington, son of the late Sumner C. and Annie E. Rice (Thomas) Graduate of Brockton High School Class of 1936.Prior to moving to Arizona in 1998, he lived in East Bridgewater for over 30 years. He was a veteran of World War II having served with distinction with the Headquarters of the 13th U.S. Army Air Force, known as the “Jungle Air Force” during its long and grueling island-to-island campaign and eventual victory in the South Pacific. Mr. Thomas was very proud of his military service and attended reunions of his unit as long as his health permitted. He was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a retired machinist and was employed for 34 years by the former Ward Machine Company in Brockton. He retired in 1980. Mr. Thomas was avid baseball enthusiast, enjoyed music and was an accomplished organist. In his younger years he enjoyed bowling, gardening and traveling.
Survived by two sons, Eugene A. Thomas, Jr. of Auburn, NH and Wayne R. Thomas of Tucson, AZ., five grandchildren and three great grandchildren, a brother of Linwood Thomas of Madison, ME. and several nieces and nephews.
He was the husband for 47 years of the late Winifred H. (Rood) Thomas and brother and good friend of the late Frederick Thomas formerly of Raynham
