Mrs. Macy Avrett Reese
Augusta, GA---Mrs. Macy Avrett Reese, 97, entered into rest on June 2, 2010 at University Hospital.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at 2:00 pm, in the Platt's Crawford Avenue Chapel with Reverend Wade Trimmer and Reverend Bill Reese officiating. Interment will follow at West View Cemetery.
Born in Wrens, GA, she had lived in Augusta since 1930 and was the daughter of the late John Hyman and Ida Montgomery Avrett. Mrs. Reese was a faithful servant of the Lord, a devoted homemaker and doting mother. She will be greatly missed.
Mrs. Reese was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, William Talbot Reese, Sr.
She is survived by her sons, Rev. Bill Reese (Fannie), North Augusta, SC., Toby Reese (Mary), Augusta, GA, and her daughter, Mrs. Darlyn Greene (Tom), Augusta, GA, grandchildren are Lt Col. Donald Reese, US Army Ret. (Mary) Ozark, MO, Sharon Willis, Augusta, GA, Susan Burgess (Tony), North Augusta, SC, Faith Smith (Dan), North Augusta SC, William T. Greene III, (Davida), Lawrenceville, GA, Elizabeth Hostetler, Augusta, GA, John A. Greene (Jennifer), Augusta, GA, 14 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, from 12:00 Noon until the time services, at Platt’s Crawford Avenue.
Pallbearers will be Don Reese, Tony Burgess, Dan Smith, Tom Greene, Will Greene and Tony Greene.
The family wishes to thank the many care givers who supported our mother, in the waning years of her life.
