Richard D. Faneuf, Jr. 61, of 12 Ballard St.,passed away, Monday, May 31, 2010 in St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester.
He leaves behind his wife of 41 years, Linda F. (Lewin) Faneuf, one daughter, Lori A. Faneuf of Oxford, his mother, Elsie L. (Pattee) Faneuf of Oxford, his step-mother, Gloria M. Faneuf of Oxford, three brothers, Edward J. Faneuf and his wife Carol of East Templeton, William A. Faneuf and his wife Lynne of Oxford, David J. Faneuf of Oxford, 21 nieces and nephews, and several grand nieces and grand nephews. His sister-in-law June Faneuf wife of brother Thomas J. Faneuf who passed away in 2003. He also leaves his mother-in-law, Mary L. Lewin who will miss him dearly.
Richard was born in Webster, a son of Richard D. Faneuf, Sr. and lived in Oxford most of his life. At the age of 17, Richard survived an automobile accident which resulted in quadriplegia in 1966. He began his long road to recovery at Lemuel Shattuck Hospital in Jamaica Plains, where he met his future wife Linda. He led a fulfilling life surrounded by family and friends. He was an inspiration to all. He became a member of the Massachusetts Association of Paraplegics, in the early 70's and participated in the Paralympics. Olympics for Paraplegics in which he won many national medals. Dick also participated in handicapped bowling, enjoyed playing horseshoes, cribbage and fishing. he loved his yearly trips to Atlantic City and Foxwoods. One of his favorite pastimes was family and backyard barbeques. Richard was an amazing, loving person.
Calling hours for Richard will be Saturday, June 5, 2010 from 1 to 3 PM at the Robert J. Miller- Oxford Funeral Home, 247 Main St. follwed at 3:00 PM by a time of Reflection and Remeberance of Richard's Life. Family and Friends are welcome to gather at the Faneuf home on Ballard St. for a "Cookout" as a celebration of Dick's life.
