Obituary

EAST TAUNTON – Jose Dimas Amaro, husband of Eduarda M. (Fagundes) Amaro, died at his East Taunton home on May 29, 2010.
He was 67.
Born in Terceira, Azores, he was the son of the late Jose and Ana Inacia (Brito) Vieira Amaro.
Raised and educated in the Azores, Mr. Amaro served in the Portuguese Army before moving to the U.S. in 1975.
He worked for Coppercraft Guild and the Sysco Corporation for some time, later owning and operating Joe’s Canteen for many years.
He retired a short time ago.
Mr. Amaro was a communicant of St. Anthony Church, and an avid soccer fan.
Besides his wife of E. Taunton, he leaves two sons, Joe E. Amaro of Taunton and Dimas Amaro and his wife Sandra of Taunton; two brothers, Alberto F. Amaro of Terceira, Azores, and Fernando M. Amaro of St. Petersburg, FL; four sisters, Maria L. Pinheiro, and Ilidia M. Santos, both of Taunton, Maria Fatima Melo of Little Elm, TX and Ana M. Buckley of Bridgewater; four grandchildren, Alicia Amaro of Plymouth, and Benjamin, Brandon and Kylie Amaro, all of Taunton; two aunts; and many nieces and nephews.
He was also the brother of the late Isaura Amaro.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton, on Wednesday, June 2nd at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Anthony Church at 11 a.m. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 1st from 5 to 8 p.m.
