John F. “Jack” Hanrahan

TEWKSBURY, MA: John F. “Jack” Hanrahan, age 65, a resident of Tewksbury for the past 35 years, previously of Saco, ME, died Saturday, November 1, 2003 at his home after a courageous year long battle with colon cancer.
He was the husband of Sheila A. (Chase) with whom he would have celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary on January 2, 2004.
Born in Boston on November 2, 1937, he was the son of the late Edna M. (Banks) and Thomas J. Hanrahan.
Mr. Hanrahan was raised in Saco, Maine. He attended Saco, Maine schools, graduating from Thornton Academy in 1956. Mr. Hanrahan later attended DeVry Technical Institute of Chicago.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force.
He has resided in Tewksbury since 1968 and attended St. William’s Church.
Prior to his retirement in 1995, he was employed as an engineer by I.B.M., where he worked for 30 years. Mr. Hanrahan was awarded 5 IBM Service awards during his career for outstanding performance.
Following retirement, he worked as a computer consultant and traveled throughout the United States conducting computer training courses. In addition, Mr. Hanrahan taught computer education and investment courses for the Tewksbury Community Adult Education Program.
He was the Associate Director of the Massachusetts Chapter of the National Association of Investors Corporation.
Mr. Hanrahan enjoyed an active adult life playing soccer with the Tewksbury Grand Masters Soccer Club. He also served as a coach in the Tewksbury Youth Football and Soccer programs. In addition, he served as referee for area high school and youth soccer matches.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by 1 daughter; Colleen A. Hanrahan of Chelmsford and her special friend Domenic Pecce; 2 sons; J. Kevin Hanrahan and his wife Denise (Mitchell) of Coeur D’Alene, Idaho and Brian J. Hanrahan and his wife Sandra (Ward) of Lowell; 1 sister; Beverly Howe and her husband Harold of Saco, ME; a sister-in-law; Sharon Hanrahan of Farmington, ME; also many nieces and nephews. Mr. Hanrahan was the brother of the late Thomas and William Hanrahan.
Calling hours Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. at the FARMER & DEE FUNERAL HOME, 16 LEE ST., TEWKSBURY. His funeral will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. from the funeral home, followed by his Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Williams Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury.
