Obituary

Jessie L. Nafziger, 94, formerly of Washington and Minier, passed away at 12:15 a.m., Saturday, May 29, 2010 at Maple Lawn Health Center in Eureka.

Jessie was born on December 4, 1915 in Oelwein, Iowa to Joseph and Alice Maier Gottschalk. She married Orval Nafziger in Minier on June 7, 1941. Orval survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, JoAnne (Gary) Cruson of Nampa, Idaho and Norma (Bill) Foster of Eagle, Idaho; three grandchildren, Jennifer Mecham, Kimberly Conklin and Megan Foster and four loving great grandchildren, Natalie, Elle, Mia and Turner. Jessie was preceded in death by two sisters, Anna Gottschalk and Lillian Ogden.

Jessie had been a hairdresser in Peoria for many years prior to retirement. She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Washington.

Jessie loved music and especially enjoyed singing, years ago she even played ukulele for a local band. She will always be remembered as a wonderful homemaker and her great cooking. Even today her recipes are being used and passed down to the the kids and grandkids.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Mark's Lutheran Church with Pastor Dick Hanson officiating. Burial will follow in Glendale Cemetery in Washington. Visitation will be at the church on Thursday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Mason-White Funeral Home is assisting the family in arrangements.

Memorials may be made to either St. Mark's Lutheran Church or Maple Lawn Health Center.
