NEW BEDFORD - John Orr, Jr., 82, of Westport died Friday, May 28, 2010 at Hathaway Manor. He was the husband of Evelyn “Lynn” (Mello) Orr. Born in Westport, he was the son of the late John Orr, Sr. and Harriet N. (Manchester) Orr.
He was a communicant of St. George Church, Westport. He was formerly employed as an order-picker for Kay Windsor of New Bedford and a member of the I.L.G.W.U. Mr. Orr was an U.S. Army Veteran serving in WWII.
Beside his wife survivors include 2 sons: Steven J. Orr and his wife Denise St. Denis of Westport and Douglas P. Orr of Westport; 2 brothers: Raymond Orr and his wife Aida of Westport and Frank E. Orr of Westport; a granddaughter: Tina McCollum; 2 great grandchildren: Jacob Scott and Jessica Lynn Cabral; 1 great great granddaughter: Victoria Lynn Marie Purcell; several nieces and nephews.
At the request of the family all services will be private.
