Obituary

Worcester- Ignatius J. “Jay” Kimelaskas, 71, of 1060 Main St., died Tuesday, Oct. 28, in UMass-Memorial Medical Center, University Campus.He leaves three brothers, Edward A. Kimelaskas of Worceseter, William J. Kimelaskas of Auburn, and Joseph Kimelaskas of Hudson; a sister, Mary T. Ghiz of Worcester; many nephews and nieces. Four sisters, Beatrice Pigeon, Dian Gragowski, A. Rose Shannon, and Blanche Harkins, predeceased him. A brother, John Kimelaskas, also predeceased him.

Mr. Kimelaskas was a bricklayer for various building contractors. He previously worked at New England Power Co.

He was a member of St. Casimir Parish.

He enjoyed sports, especially the Red Sox and Patriots. He enjoyed Hampton Beach and was loved by all that knew him and he was a great brother to his siblings.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict.Funeral services and burial in St. John’s Cemetery will be private. There are no calling hours. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 7 Oak St., Worcester, MA 01609. DIRSA-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton St., is directing arrangements.
