Obituary

Sophie A. (Los) Niejadlik, 85, of 53 Lincoln Street and formerly of East Brookfield died Wednesday, May 26 in the Meadows of Leicester after a brief illness.

Her husband of almost 50 years John S. Niejadlik died in 1997. She leaves a sister Mary L. Hayes of Dewitt, New York and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by three brothers Pete, Mike and Paul Los.

Mrs. Niejadlik was born in East Brookfield, daughter of John and Victoria (Ciesielozyk) Los. She graduated from David Prouty High School and Becker College in Worcester. She was employed at Guarantee Bank in Worcester in the trust department for 18 years retiring in 1986. She was a great cook and in her spare time enjoyed her hobby of making ceramic figures. She was active in the St. John the Baptist Church and its women’s guild, the Lake Lashaway Senior Citizens, and the local Grange. She volunteered for many years at the Spencer Library, local schools and at the Thrift Shop at the Congregational Church in Spencer. The family would like to thank all those who cared for Sophie including Lincoln Hill Manor, the Meadows of Leicester and Evercare Hospice.

The funeral will be held Friday, May 28 from J. HENRI MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer with a Mass at Noon in St. John the Baptist Church, North Brookfield Road, East Brookfield. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, East Brookfield. A calling hour will be held from 10:30-11:30 AM prior to the funeral Mass. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. John the Baptist Church, 121 Blaine Ave., East Brookfield, MA 01515.
