Obituary

Whitman – Robert J. “Bobby” Tero 84 a life long resident of Whitman died Saturday May 22 after a period of failing health. He was the beloved husband of Margaret (Chesnauskas) Tero.

Born and raised in Whitman he was the son of the late Francis J. and Doris (Sanborn) Tero and a graduate of Whitman High School. He attended Wentworth Institute for two years and worked as a plumber for the VA Hospital for over 27 years.

As a life long resident of Whitman he was involved in local politics serving as chairman of the conservation committee.

Bobby was a proud veteran of WWII having served in the US Navy aboard the USS Hopping from 1943 – 1946. For his service in the war he was awarded the WWII Victory Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal W 1 Star, and the Asiatic Pacific Theatre Medal among others.

He was an avid outdoors man and loved hunting in Maine. He was a 25 year member of the Middleboro Elks, a member of the American Legion, Destroyer Escort Historical Assoc – Plank Owner, UDT Seal Museum Assoc, Beagle Club, Ducks Unlimited, and AARP.

In addition to his loving wife Margaret he is survived by his sisters-in law Julia Grenis, Veronica McCluskey, Brony Summers and her husband Robert, his brother-in-law Ralph Chesnauskas and his wife Patricia, his nephew Mark McCluskey and his wife Mardi, his nieces Holly Chesnauskas and Karen McSherry and her husband James, as well as his sister Shirley Stanchina. He was the brother of the late Francis Tero.
