Kenneth Rowe Averitt, Sr., 73, Clarksville, died Tuesday, May 25, 2010, at his residence. A celebration of life service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Chapel with Rev. Steve Louder and Brother David Averitt officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. until the hour of the service Friday at the funeral home. Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. He was born October 27, 1936, in Montgomery County, son of the late Ira Carlton Averitt and Callie Elizabeth Bateman Averitt. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Mary Ann Atkins and beloved daughter, Amy Averitt. Mr. Averitt was in the lumber business and retired as CEO of Averitt Hardwoods International. He was a veteran of the US Army. He was a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Survivors include his wife, June McCarty Averitt; two sons, Kenny Averitt and David Averitt (Debbie); daughter, Leigh Averitt-Neperud(Eric); two brothers, Terry Averitt and Larry Averitt; grandchildren, Caroline Averitt, Jay Averitt, Emily and Chris Dial, Michael Martin, and Callie Martin. The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Bill Grabenstein and staff and to the staff of Asera Care Hospice.
