Gilford-----Charles Ernest “Ernie” Vlk, 80, of 9 Sargent Place #74, and formerly of West Alton, died at his home in Gilford on Thursday, May 20, 2010 after a brave battle with cancer.
Mr. Vlk was born September 25, 1929 in Stafford Springs, Connecticut, the son of Charles and Anna (Sedlar) Vlk. Mr. Vlk lived in Connecticut for several years before moving to West Alton in 1953. In 2007, he moved to Gilford.
Mr. Vlk served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a Master Electrician and worked for Winston Titus as well as other building contractors. He loved bowling, fishing, woodworking and watching game shows.
Mr. Vlk is survived by his wife, Donna (Davis) Vlk, of Gilford; two sons, Josh Vlk of Laconia and Vincent Vlk of E. Liverpool, Ohio; two daughters, Vivian Hodgdon of Danbury, N.H. and Mrs. Dennis Fogg, of Weirs, NH; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; a brother, James Vlk and his wife, Cassie, of Washington; two sisters, Janet Wyatt and her husband, Douglas, of New York, NY and Mildred Vlk of Seattle, Wash. and two nephews. Douglas Wyatt, Jr. and Dwight Wyatt.
There will be no calling hours.
A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, June 4, 2010 at 11:00AM at the family lot in Meredith Village Cemetery, Rte. 3, Meredith. Rev. John Davies, Community Health & Hospice chaplain, will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Community Health & Hospice, Inc., 780 North Main Street, Laconia, N.H. 03246.
