Salome "Sally" (Nobrega) Fernandes, 76, of New Bedford died May 25, 2010 at home after a long illness.
She was the wife of Gilbert Fernandes.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Jose and Herminha (Nunes) Nobrega, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
Mrs. Fernandes was a communicant of St. Lawrence Church.
She was formerly employed as a judicial clerk in New Bedford Superior Court for many years until retirement.
Mrs. Fernandes enjoyed daily walks around Buttonwood Park with her husband.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Cynthia Lee and her companion Mark Linhares of Marstons Mills, MA; a granddaughter, Courtney Lee and her companion Michael Brown of Marstons Mills, MA; a great-granddaughter, Bianca; 4 brothers, Manuel Nobrega, Joseph Nobrega and his wife Dorothy, Americo "Mac" Nobrega and Joaquim "Jack" Nobrega and his wife Barbara, all of New Bedford; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford Saturday, May 29th at 9 AM. Funeral Mass at St. Lawrence Church at 10 AM. Visiting hours will be on Friday, May 28th from 4-8 PM.
