Obituary

Eleanor C. (Carr) Turner, 91 years old, widow of the late Amos Turner who died in 1982, died Friday evening at Southington Health Care Center in Southington, CT following a lengthy illness.
Born in Lowell on December 27, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Edward and Nora (McKeon) Carr. Mrs. Turner was a graduate of the Sacred Heart Grammar School and the Immaculate Conception High School. She then received her Degree in Sociology from D’Youville College in Buffalo, New York and furthered her studies at Boston College receiving her Masters in Sociology.
For over 35 years, Mrs. Turner was employed as a Social Worker for the Massachusetts Division of Child Guardianship. She retired in 1983. Before moving to Connecticut 10 years ago, Mrs. Turner was formerly from the Belvedere section of the city and attended the Immaculate Conception Church and was a member of the Holy Rosary Society of the Parish. She was a former member of the Andover Country Club and the Catholic College Club of Lowell.
She is survived by two sons and daughters in law, Peter Turner and his wife Ann of Chelmsford and Mark Turner and his wife Debbie of Lowell; two daughters, Martha Turner of Berlin,CT and Melissa Cohen of Honeoye, NY; five grandchildren, Melissa Kozusko, Deborah Turner, Alex Turner, Stephanie Turner and Cassandra Cohen; and a nephew, Quinn Turner of IL.
TURNER- Relatives and friends may call on Thursday, May 27, from 4 until 8 pm at the MAHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 187 NESMITH ST (Rte.38) LOWELL. Her Funeral Mass will be offered on Friday, May 28 at 9:30 AM at the IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH (Lower Church) followed by burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Tewksbury. Donations in her memory may be made to the Tranquil Passage Program or the Recreation Program at the Southington Care Center, 45 Meriden Avenue, Southington, CT 06489. Arrangements are by the MAHONEY FUNERAL HOME, LOWELL,MA.
