Janet I. (Smith) Angelo, a 47 year resident of Wakefield, died on Friday, May 21, 2010, at her home in Wakefield following a brief and courageous battle with cancer. She was 67 years old.
Janet was born in Melrose on September 16, 1942 to the late George C. and Carrie (Findlay) Smith. She grew up in Lynnfield where she attended Lynnfield Public Schools and graduated from Lynnfield High School. Janet worked for more than 23 years as an Office Manager at Wilson Art in North Reading. She enjoyed traveling to Atlantic City with her husband, but most of all, Janet spent most of her spare time dedicating herself to her children and grandchildren.
Janet is the beloved and adored wife of 49 years to George Angelo. She is the devoted mother of David J. Angelo and his fiance Ellie of Wakefield, Stephen J. Angelo and his partner Amy of Peabody, Susan I. Croce and her husband Mark of North Reading and G. Scott Angelo and his wife Heidi of Lynnfield. She is the loving Mimi to Krysta, Scott, Samantha, Stephanie, Robert, Hunter, Madison and Faith. She is the beloved sister of Karl Smith of Rochester, NH, and the late David C. Smith. She is the beloved sister-in-law of Anthony and Barbara Angelo of Saugus.
Relatives and friends are invited on Monday, May 24, 2010, to attend visiting hours from 4 to 7 p.m. followed by Janet's Funeral Service at 7 p.m. in The Carr Funeral Home, 1159 Main Street, Wakefield/Melrose line. Interment will be private.
