Obituary

Methuen, MA- Robert L. “Bob” Flaherty, 77, died Wednesday, May 19th, 2010 at the Lawrence General Hospital surrounded by those he loved.
Born on November 22, 1932 in Lawrence, Bob was the son of Joseph A. and Mabel (LaClair) Flaherty. He was educated in Lawrence schools and a graduate of Central Catholic High School.
In February of 1953, Robert joined the United States Army. He served in the Korean War where he earned the United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and the Korean Service Medal. He was honorably discharged in January of 1955.
Bob enjoyed golfing, and for a period worked as an assistant pro-golfer at the Indian Ridge Country Club in Andover. For 32 years, Bob worked at Raytheon Co. in Andover in the facilities department until his retirement.
Bob was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, who was loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
The widower of the late Patricia M. (Mirfield), Bob will be deeply missed and is survived by his sons, Michael Flaherty and his wife Patricia of North Andover, Gary Flaherty and his wife Brenda of Salem, NH, his daughters, Cathleen Campolini and her husband Thomas of Methuen and Gail Dube and her husband Henry of Hampstead, NH. Robert will also be deeply missed by his grandchildren, Michael, Cody, and Kyle Flaherty and Kaitlin and Cameron Couture. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Joan (Mirfield) Bamford and her husband James of Methuen, as well as several nieces and nephews.

ARRANGEMENTS: Family and friends are invited to pay their respects from 4 to 7 PM on Monday, May 24th at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence St., Methuen. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 9:45 AM at the Funeral Home with burial to follow at the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence.
