Obituary

Elizabeth J. “Betty” King, a lifelong resident of Medford, died Tuesday at the New England Rehabilitation Center, Woburn. She was 75.

Born in Medford, she was the daughter of the late John and the late Miriam (Larkin) O´Hearn. Betty worked as a secretary in Medford City Hall for 10 years. She stopped working to raise her 5 children. After her last child began school Betty did too, and began a 27 year span with the Medford School Department as a secretary at the Hancock, Kennedy and Lincoln Schools.

Betty was the beloved wife of James E. “Gene” King. She was a devoted mother to Miriam Marotta and her husband Ralph of Winchester, Margaret Frattura and her husband Michael of Woburn, James King, Jr. and his wife Debra, Elizabeth Lepore and her husband Marty, and Nancy King all of Medford. She was the loving grandmother of Nicole, Jimmy, Matthew, Michael and the late Brittany and Samantha. She was a cherished sister to Margaret McCarthy of Medford, Jean MacDonald of Holden, Barbara Lepore of Arlington, Faith Belluche of Woburn, Janet O'Hearn of Medford, the late Ted O’Hearn. And is also survived by many adoring nieces and nephews.

Her funeral mass will be celebrated Friday at 11 am in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.

Family and friends may visit Thursday from 3-8 at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford.
