Phyllis P. Norkus, 88, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Wednesday, October 29, 2003, at Dorminy Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held 9:00 A.M., November 1, 2003, at St. William’s Catholic Church, Fitzgerald with Rev. Ted Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 P.M., Friday at Paulk Funeral Home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Norkus was born May 19, 1915, in Davenport, Iowa, to the late Edward C. & Gertrude Devlin Proksch. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Peter James Norkus, son, Michael Norkus & 2 sisters. She lived in Fitzgerald since 1963 from Bettendorf, Iowa and was Co-Owner and Administrator of the Fitzgerald Nursing Home. Mrs. Norkus was a member of the Georgia Nursing Home Association, the American Health Care Association & the Dietary Manager’s Association. She was a member of St. William’s Catholic Church in Fitzgerald.
Survivors include: one daughter, Patricia Norkus, Fitzgerald; one son, Larry Norkus, Gambrills, MD; Six Grandchildren and 10 Great-Grandchildren.
