Miss Elizabeth K. Flaherty, age 88, passed away Tuesday following a brief illness. Born in Woburn, she was the daughter of the late Julia and Martin Flaherty. Elizabeth was a life long resident of Woburn, she worked for over forty years as a nurse. She worked at the Mass. General Hospital for over twenty-five years. Elizabeth was extremely dedicated to her work as a nurse, but was also very busy during WWII volunteering and working to help the war effort here on the home front. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Elizabeth´s memory to Hospice Care Inc. 41 Montvale Ave, Stoneham, MA 02180.
In addition to her late parents Elizabeth is preceded in death by her sister Mary Maguire. She is survived by four sisters; Julia Mantere and Gladys Callahan of Woburn, Doris Matta of Medford, Theresa Gately also of Woburn and two brothers, Albert Flaherty of Burlington and Leo Flaherty of Everett. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home 60 Pleasant St. Woburn, Thursday at 8 AM. Followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Charles Church 280 Main St. Woburn, at 9 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Wednesday 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with burial at Calvary Cemetery, Woburn.
