Hingham – Madeline B. (Vissa) Wood 84 a 45 year resident of Hingham died Tuesday May 11 after a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Frederick Wood.
Born and raised in Quincy she was the daughter of the late Angelo and Regina (Fumei) Vissa and a graduate of Quincy High School.
Madeline had worked many years for Proctor & Gamble and later for the Boston Herald where she retired from after 17 years.
During her illness Madeline had been lovingly cared for by the staff of the Embassy House of Brockton.
She is survived by her loving daughters Linda Robbins of Whitman and Donna Marshall of Ohio, her four grandchildren Christopher and Melanie Robbins and Jessica and Melissa Marshall, her sister Angelina Varasso of Braintree as well as many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Gino Vissa and Catherina Doyle-Ferrante.
Her funeral service will be held Tuesday May 18 at 8:30 AM from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman followed by a mass at 10 AM in St. Mary’ Church, Quincy. Burial will follow in the Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. Visiting hours will be held Monday May 17 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM.
