Worcester: Ida Mary (Moore) Moore Isaksen, 95, of Worcester, formerly of St. Johnsbury, Vermont died peacefully surrounded by her loving family in Lutheran Healthcare, 26 Harvard Street, Worcester on Mother's Day, Sunday, May 9, 2010.
She was the sole survivor of ten brothers and sisters and was the daughter of the late Caroline Beatrice (MacFarland) Moore and Leon John Moore. She leaves six grandchildren, Charles H. Lucci and his wife Donna of Worcester, Anne Marie Lucci of Worcester, Joanne Caroline Lucci of Worcester, Mrs. Brenda J. Kelosis and her husband John S. Kelosis of Millbury, and twins Barbara A. Lucci and Florence M. Lucci, both of Worcester; four great-grandchildren, Joseph M. Lucci and Kayleigh E. Lucci, both of Worcester, Emily J. Kelosis and Rachel L. Kelosis, both of Millbury. She also leaves a special nephew John Steele Moore, his wife Christine and a great nephew David Nathan Moore, all of Springfield, Virginia; as well as a loving niece Jeanne McGinnis, of Milford, CT. Two daughters predeceased her, Mrs. Barbara J. (Moore) Lucci of Worcester and an infant daughter Carolyn Moore. A niece Caroline Brock also predeceased her. She is the widow of the late Edson Moore and the Late Ludvig Lobric Isaksen.
She was born in St. Johnsbury, Vermont on August 24, 1914 and lived there also later in life for 26 years with her late brother Harold Moore. She was a true Vermonter and enjoyed robust living including hike up to her nephew's camp on Joe's Pond in Danville, Vermont. She was a homemaker most of her life and was known for her Yankee specialties and her fried donuts. She loved people and especially loved to laugh and enjoyed singing and living in the moment. She will be remembered as everyone's Grammy because of her beautiful and peaceful spirit and kind smile for everyone who knew her especially her loving grandchildren, for whom she was like a second mother for the past nine years. She enjoyed listening to music and many visits with her family, both near and far.
The family would like to express their deepest thank you to her personal care physician, Dr. Joseph J. Savitt, MD, who cared for her since her move to Worcester fourteen years ago. Also a special and warm thank you to the loving staff of the Lutheran Healthcare where she lived the last fourteen years, the Evercare Hospice Staff, and especially her devoted CNA, Mindy Callahan.
The graveside funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 11, at 1:30 p.m. at Notre Dame Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made to Lutheran Healthcare, 26 Harvard Street, Worcester, MA 01609.
