Obituary

Marian Steimle Parker, of Metamora, IL died there May 2, 2010. She was born April 11, 1912 at Bradford, IL to Wm Alvin and Mary Jane (Hurley) Steimle. She graduated from Tiskilwa High School in 1931 and St. Francis School of Nursing, Peoria, IL in 1934. She did private duty nursing in Peoria and later, staff nursing at Eureka Hospital and St. Francis Hospital, Peoria, retiring in 1981. She married Hilton H. Parker in Ransom, IL on August 12, 1941. He died on Nov.10, 1966.

Surviving are children Jane Montressor, Aurora, CO, Thomas H. Parker, Oceanside, CA and grandchild Jen Janousek, Seattle, WA. Also surviving: sister Grace Cooper, York, PA, sisters-in-law Mildred Steimle and Faith Steimle, Kewanee, IL and Joyce Williams, Monterey, CA, numerous nieces and nephews and special friends Kay and Bob Vogel and Elaine Breitbarth of Metamora, and Greta Fryxell of CA. Marian’s parents, brothers Ferdinand, James Everett, Leo, Wm Joe and 2 infant sisters preceded her in death.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Altar and Rosary Society, St. Francis Senior Saints, Metamora Historical Society and a founding member of Metamora Woman’s Club. Marian was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society, American Red Cross and American Heart Association as well as the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of America.

A Funeral mass will be at 10:00am Friday May 7, 2010 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Metamora. Father Don Roszkowski officiating. Visitation will be from 6pm until 8pm Thursday May 6, 2010 at the Mason Funeral Home Metamora Chapel with recitation of the rosary at 8pm. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery Metamora.
