Obituary

William C. Kichton, a long-time resident of Woburn passed away peacefully May 3rd, at the Woodbriar of Wilmington Nursing Facility following a short battle with cancer; he was 78 years of age. He was the beloved husband of Ruth (Donahue) Kichton and together they shared 52 years of marriage. Born in Youngstown, Ohio he was the son of the late Sally (Edwards) Kichton.

William was raised and educated in Boston's south end and was a graduate of Boston English High School. Following high school he enlisted in the United States Army and honorably served during the Korean War from 1954 to 1956. Upon returning from his time of service he began his career as a salesman for the Suppliers Automotive Co. in Woburn where he worked for 37 years and retired in 2007. Prior to his retirement he also worked for 25 years as a limousine driver for several local limousine companies and for a number of years during the 1970's he worked as a bartender for Twins Enterprise across from Fenway Park in Boston while his wife was the head waitress and his children also worked there. Together as a family they had many fun times while they all worked with one another.

William enjoyed all of Boston's Sports and was a former member of the Bo-Sox Club. He volunteered his time at the Boys and Girls Club of Woburn where he was the Bingo Caller for 15 years. Mostly devoted to his loving family, he enjoyed camping and boating with them at Old Orchard Beach in Maine during the summers. William also held his Private Pilot License since 1966 from the Tew-Mac School of Aeronautics in Tewksbury and loved to take the family on many fly outs over the years.

In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his devoted children, Donna J. Gentile and her husband Louis of Lawrence, Mark W. Kichton and his wife Suzan of Burlington, Wayne C. Kichton and his wife Karen of Wilmington. He was the loving grandfather of Stacey Gentile and her fiancé Jeff Vachon, Michelle Gentile, Brian and Shawn Kichton. He was the cherished son-in-law of the late Errold and Hilda Donahue formerly of Bethel, ME.

Funeral services will be held from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., Woburn, Friday, May 7th, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Anthony Church, 851 Main St., Woburn, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours at the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home will be Thursday from 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with burial at Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. As an expression of sympathy memorial contributions may be made in William's memory to the Merrimack Valley Hospice, 360 Merrimack St., Bldg. 9, Lawrence, MA 01843.
